Caffè La Serra (VE)
Serra dei Giardini is one of those magic Venetian places beyond time or space. A former 19th-century glasshouse, close to the garden of the Venice Biennale, it has been restored and transformed into a café with a lovely flower shop. The amazing structure was created in 1894 for the first Art Biennale of Venice, so it’s indeed an authentic example of industrial archaeology.
With a simple menu including organic and local products, snacks and fresh juices, this is the perfect spot for a refreshing break, a coffee or a truly romantic and unusual aperitif.
The cafè also organizes several events, art exhibitions and creative lab for both adults and children.
The Secret
Originally the greenhouse was painted white like most of the contemporary European greenhouses of the 19th century and is the only surviving testimony of the International Art Exhibition, the first Biennale of Art.
